Never get surprise-charged: trial runbooks

Surprise charges rarely feel like “you forgot.” They feel like the product tricked you. The fix is operational: log the trial, set reminders, and run a cancellation checklist before renewal.

The 30-second log
- Product name
- Start / renews-on date
- Duration in days
- Whether you’re tracking without a card / with a virtual card
Cancellation runbook (default)
- Check for pause before cancel
- Export anything you need
- Complete Settings → Account → Cancel
- Save the confirmation email
- If charged after cancel, use the refund protocol
Tip: remind yourself at 3 days, 1 day, and day-of. That cadence matches how most trial-to-paid cliffs work.
